Obituary of Anne Korotash

Anne Korotash (1927-2024)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anne Korotash, a loving mother, Baba, and great-Baba, who left us on July 28, 2024, at the age of 96, at Heidehof Home for the Aged.

Anne is survived by her children: Ron (Karen), Glen (Joan), Bruce (Lori), Stephan (Brenda), and Debbie Davidson; her cherished grandchildren, who lovingly called her "Baba": Jared, Allison, Neil, Kevin, Kristi, Bonnie, Paul, Luke, Alexis, John, Marlo, Jordan, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Roman (1995) and long-time partner Alex Moskal (2024).

Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan in 1927, Anne moved to St. Catharines in 1947, where she met and married Roman in 1948. She spent her life in St. Catharines, working at McKinnon Industries, Versa Foods, and retiring after 18 years at St. Catharines General Hospital.

Anne was known for her kindness, love of baking, and cooking. She volunteered for many years at St. John's Ukrainian Catholic Church kitchen, making traditional dishes like pierogies, pies, and cabbage rolls. Her hobbies included creating beautiful Ukrainian Easter Eggs and making delicious doughnuts for her family. Anne was also renowned for her quick wit and great sense of humor, which brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. Her laugh and playful jokes will be deeply missed.

Cremation has already taken place. Interment will be at Pleasantview Cemetery in Fonthill, Ontario, on September 14, 2024 at 11:30 a.m., followed by a celebration of life at George Darte Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m.

The family extends their gratitude to the staff of Heidehof for their exceptional care.
