Lavell, Colleen Marie (née Granton)

Died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in her 76th year. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Brian. Colleen was the world’s best mother to Chris & Katherine Lavell, Katie & Nathan Hale, Heather & Chris Parillo. Nana will remain in the hearts of her beloved grandchildren Sloane & Coen. She is survived by siblings Cathy & Ted Gibson, Carol & Mike Jones, Tom & Mary Granton, Margie & Brian Richardson, Paul & Cheryl Granton. Colleen will be deeply missed by Margaret Lavell , Tom Chapman, Colleen & Paul Blogg, Peter & Kelly Lavell, Sheila Lavell & Duff Porteous and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Frank and Margaret Granton, father-in-law, Harry Lavell, and Mary Chapman & Larry Evans.

Colleen was an excellent primary teacher for 32 years with the Niagara Catholic School Board and an artist at heart. Colleen loved to paint, quilt, try new recipes, and work on home décor. Colleen enjoyed many years travelling with her husband and making wonderful memories with her family.

The family offers heartfelt thanks to Dr Robb and her staff; Staff at Walker Cancer Center, Trillium Unit, GNGH and 3B Oncology of St. Catharines Hospital. We were blessed to have Dr Qwai, super nurse Emily Pascoe Pratt and Dr Bokhari support Colleen for the past 12 months.

Arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home and, as with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will have visitors at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Thursday, July 25  from  2-4 and 6-8 p.m.. If so desired, donations may be made to the Walker Cancer Centre or Hospice Niagara.
