Passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at the Meadows of Dorchester Long Term Care facility at 90 years of age, with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Giovanni (2015). Cherished mom to the late Vincenzo (2020) (Krystyna) and Anna (Rocco 2014). Proud Nonna to Brittany (Paul), Amanda (Alfonso), Victoria (Matthew) and Daniel (Jennifer). Bisnonna to Alessandra, Giacomo, Maria, Lilliana and Elliana. Beloved sister of the late Francesco (the late Filomena), the late Antonio (Caterina), Orazio (Maria 2015), Angelina (Vincenzo), Pasqualina (Rocco), Assunta (Nicola), sister-in-law to Maria Dileo (Alessandro). Will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews and fondly remembered by her nephew Mike Dileo who was always there for her in her time of need. Maria was born March 7, 1934 in Guardia, Lombardi, Italy. She came to Canada in 1967 with her husband Giovanni to begin a new life for her family. Maria will be remembered for her kind soul and forever the perfect hostess in ensuring that her table was always full, and never lacking her delicious sponge cake when family and friends came to visit. A heartfelt thank you to her brother Orazio and her sisters Pasqualina and Assunta for their daily repeated phone calls to ensure that she was never alone and always loved. A heartfelt thanks to all the R.N's, R.P.N's and P.S.W staff at Meadows of Dorchester (Spring Garden Unit) for their compassion, continuous care and daily hugs ensuring her comfort.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. Vigil prayers for Maria will be held in the funeral home at 3 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Alfred Church, 272 Vine Street, St.Catharines on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Rite of Committal at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
