It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Helen on July 20th 2024. known as #1 MOM, MAMA BEAR, OMA HELEN, she is survived by her children Jack Pietersen (Teresa), Gigi St Amand (Pat), Brother Ben Custers (Sharon), Sister in Law Barb Custers (Peter), Sister in Law Elaine Custers (Jack), Brother in Law Casper Hasenak (Joanne), Step Daughter Marj Lanting, best friend Helen Dykema and many nieces and nephews. Pre deceased by her parents Bartelina Snoeks and Peter Custers, she goes to join her siblings Joanne Hasenack, Gerry Holierhoek (Nick), Jack Custers, George Custers (Barb), and Peter Custers.
Helen worked at General Motors from 1961-1991, she retired after 30 years of service.
Helen joined Niagara Life Centre in 1986 and opened her home to those in need, she became a shepherding mom to many; she obtained her Counselling For Human Services in May 2002 from Niagara College. She loved learning, traveling, gardening, personally growing and helping others financially and spiritually.
Helen's faith was everything and she shared this with every person she came in to contact with. Her positivity, generosity and caring for all will never be forgotten. Her legacy is she was one in a million, helping her family, community and strangers while serving the Lord.

A most heart felt thank you from our family to Ontario Home and Health Palliative Care Team and to Hospice Niagara and their incredible RN'S, RPN'S, PSW'S and volunteer staff. In lieu of flowers donations to Hospice Niagara would be greatly appreciated by our family.
Visitation for Helen will be held at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines on Wednesday July 24, from 1-3 and 5-7pm. Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery, St Catharines, Thursday July 25th at 9:30am. A Memorial service for Helen will be held at Immanuel United Reformed Church, 2900 Fourth Ave, Jordan Station, ON L0R 1S0, Thursday July 25th at 11am.
