Joseph Louis Denis Legault, 72, passed away in the early hours of July 16th, 2024.
Louis was born on May 14th, 1952, to Georges Legault Sr. and Georgette Legault-Flowers (née Rondeau-Pion) in Ottawa. He is survived by his children Louis Jr., Christopher, Suzanne, Hannah, Madelaine, and Katie; and by grandchildren Rose, Xavier, Spencer, Ethan, Tatianna, Harley, Andrew, Morgan, Aubrey, Hayden, and Hudsyn.
Louis is survived by his brothers George, Mike, and Daniel, as well as step-siblings and siblings-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, Georges Legault Sr., Huguette Legault, Georgette Legault-Flowers and Harry Flowers. He is also preceded in death by Ray, Trina, Dennis, Dale, and nephews Brayden and Daniel.
Louis had many adventures in his seventy-two years and played a great deal of roles. He had an impact in the lives of countless family members, friends, colleagues, and students. He was a lifelong learner, with many certifications and degrees, and was a retired teacher with the Niagara Catholic District School Board. Lou’s love of learning and public engagement made him a trusted mentor and peer in the many organizations and clubs, community groups, friends’ circles, and initiatives of which he was a part over his lifetime. The stories of lives he has touched and roads he traveled are long and rich.
An avid biker, he enjoyed traveling and spending time at his trailer, and listening to classic rock and country music. His interests and talents included programming computers, editing manuscripts and books, reading up on history and politics.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis’ memory may be made to Community Care St. Catharines, and/or to World Central Kitchen. Both are organizations that Lou supported in his life, which are dedicated to housing, feeding, and supporting the most vulnerable.
