Obituary of Robert William Barber

BARBER, Robert (Bob) William - Peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 6th, 2024 at Hotel Dieu - Shaver Hospital at the age of 93 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Nancy. Cherished father of Susan Staton (Bobby), David Barber (Rikki) and Gordon Barber (Marni). Loving and proud grandfather of Paul (Kim), Christine (Sherri), Dana (Daniel), John (Cara), Robert (Heather), Theresa (Taylor), Zach and Josh. Great grandfather of Madeline, Cameron, Cody, Kate, Benjamin, Landon, Luna, Mackenzie, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Benson, Silas, and Sloane. Bob was a retired firefighter who was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus - 3rd Degree Council #9221 and 4th Degree Council #864. He was a long time member of St. Julia Church. Bob was a very loving and kind man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A sincere thank you to all of the staff and PSW’s at Heatherwood Retirement Residence and the staff at 2 West of the Hotel Dieu-Shaver Hospital. A special thank you to Dani, his nurse who cared for him over the last number of years and Sister Louise Dillon for all of her kindness and compassion. The family would also like to thank all of Bob’s dear friends who were such a great support to him.  The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, June 16th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil Prayers will take place on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue in St, Catharines at 11 a.m.  The mass will be livestreamed.
