It is with a heavy heart that I read of the passing of Sr. Marjorie. I am in B.C., will drive through Nanaimo and thought she might still live there and would love to see, hug and chat with this wonderful woman of God. Not to be. My mother, Monica (Goetz) McMillan and Marjorie were childhood friends, growing up in Teeswater together and remained friends all their lives. I have fond childhood memories of visiting with Sr. Marjorie when she would have some R&R time at Invermara, Orillia where we lived. The last two visits with her were in Nanaimo at her and Sr. Marie's B&B home where Marie played the piano and then, lo and behold, Marjorie sat down and played too, as she had recently learned! What joy! The last visit my daughter Anne and I shared with her was at the Kuntz family reunion in Collingwood where we live. I know how much you all miss her but know that she will be busy chatting and laughing with my Mom and Dad, Aubrey, in Heaven. God bless!

It was a privilege to have met Marjorie on her two trips to Ireland when she was staying with Joyce and Aidan in Longford. Such a lovely person who left us with very fond memories of a "wicked" sense of humour and warmth. With our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Kuntz family : Parvez, Dee & the Boys

I was fortunate to have a visit with Aunt Marjorie this past July, when back in St. Catharines. She was so excited showing me Mount Carmel, I could hardly keep up with her.We said a few prayers in the chapel and she blessed me. Her kindness, knowledge and love of life will be sadly missed. Your mission in life has been accomplished. Rest in Peace Aunt Marjorie.
Love Kathy

Goodbye Aunt Marj. Any person who met you was blessed with your kind and caring personality. I thank you for living near us, helping us heal with the loss of our mother. I will miss our visits, glass of wine and playing crib. I'm sure my mom and Uncle Jerry are waiting for a game. Your spirit and smile will live on forever. Love your favorite neice LOL Dawn Maire

I met Sister Marjorie in the doctor's office where I work. On her last visit in July, she gave me a little prayer card. I sat it on my bathroom counter and it is still there; the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. What a wonderful woman! God Bless You, Sister Marjorie

Sister Marjorie wore many hats; we met her through her role at Nanaimo's Hospice and she continued her service to the community by providing music and caring words to the residents of Nanaimo Travellers Lodge, a long term care facility in our Hospice neighbourhood; Sister Marjorie also provided encouragement for those attempting piano lessons; for inspiration with music and prayer at International Womens Day events for the Zonta Club of Nanaimo; we cherish her patience, her humour and her steadfast connection to so many of us that have benefited from her generous and caring example. With kind regards to her family members; Corinne Stewart Nanaimo BC

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sister Marjorie's family and friends. She was my mentor who trained me as a Hospice Volunteer in 1993. A most wonderful, loving, compassionate woman. Through conversation, we also learned that my great grandfather Dr. Gillies in Teeswater, had delivered Sister Marjorie and her siblings, and was their family doctor. She also taught me guitar lessons for a short time, and has left me with many good memories. I feel very Blessed to have been trained by her and to have known her, as her words of "Whose needs are being met?" in everything we do remain with me to this day. sincerely, mary

I met Sr Marjorie a few years ago at Thurs afternoon 'Women of the Bible' bible study at Star of the Sea Church. I feel most blessed to have known her. I loved her infectious, loving, big smile and jovial full bodied laugh. She usually brought her guitar to our afternoon meetings and taught us several hymns. One that has particularly become dear to me is "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart". I'm sure she experienced those words deep in her soul. I taught this one to my little grandchildren and they now ask me to sing it with them.
Sr Marjorie often said - and this with deep conviction - TRUST, PRAY, OBEY ! I have adopted this as my motto.
Thank you Sr Marjorie for helping to bolster my faith. I look forward to meeting you one day in heaven. Till then, please give Mother Mary a big hug for me.
May God bless all of your precious family most abundantly.

I was one of the fortunate souls who had the opportunity to spend some quality time with dear Sr. Marj over the past several years....and even more recently within the past few weeks since she came back from Calgary where she had her first bout of illness. Except for her back issues Sr. Marj had never really been sick a day in her life and I know she found it a challenge to allow her friends and family to help her out near the end of her life. She was nonetheless very grateful for every kind gesture and prayer. She was so independent and so in love with our Lord and his mother. She had a faith that could not be shaken. She would always greet me with a hug and then put her hands on my shoulder and say "Colleen I give to you the blessing that Mary has given to me"...and she would say that now I could give that same blessing to my family and friends. She didn't say much in her last few days. She told me that she was embracing the cross and taking the hand of the Blessed Mother. She was praising God for this cross and I am pretty sure that she knew God was calling her home. I think the thing that I will remember the most about her was her joy and love for everyone. She prayed daily for all of her friends and especially her family ( all of her nieces and nephews and all connected to her family). She was very supportive of me and in many ways a great spiritual advisor. She would say "All we have accomplished YOU have done for us" Isaiah 26. She loved to sit in front of the Blessed Sacrament and still made time to see her friends at Mt. Carmel. She loved living there. She loved everyone there. I know I will miss her deeply. I cannot help but just wish I had had more time to spend with her. I am happy that she is in heaven wearing her crown of glory that she so rightly deserves. Even as she moved from apartment to Mt. Carmel she rejoiced as she gave away almost all of her possessions. She said it made her feel so free. She planned her own funeral down in detail and even personally asked relatives over two years ago if they would be her paul bearers. I admire that so much about her. I know that she in heaven and I am happy that she no longer has the burden of all that comes with an aging body. I know that if she could speak to all of us right now she would say " Take Mary by the hand and never let go". She will now be praying for all of us 24-7 right in the very presence of God for all of us. Thank you Sister Marjorie Rose! "Well done good and faithful servant". Perhaps our Lord and all of our deceased friends and relatives were there to greet her with a coat of many colours which was one of her favourite songs! Colleen (Dunn) Gamble
