Tommaso Trivieri

Obituary of Tommaso Trivieri

Tommaso Trivieri – As you were, you will always be treasured forever in our memory.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tommaso Trivieri.  Born in Scandale, Italy on July 23, 1932, Dad passed away surrounded by his loved ones at the NHS – St. Catharines Site on April 25, 2024.  He is survived by his devoted wife Gaetana (nee Rizzuto), and his children Frank (Josie), Tony (Fiorella), and Rosanna (Boban Jakovljevic).  Adored grandfather of Tommas (Jessica), Kayla, Nathan, Olivia, Isabella, Alexander and Robert.  Predeceased by his parents Francesco and Rosa in Italy, his brother Antonio Trivieri in Canada, his brother Carmen Trivieri in Italy, his sister Maria Citriniti in Italy, and his brother Giovanni Trivieri in Canada.  Also survived by his sister-in-law Santina Trivieri in Canada, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Carmelo and Carmela Manti in Canada, and many other brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, and nephews both in Italy and Canada.

Tommaso came to Canada in 1951 to work in the various mines of Northern Ontario.  In 1959, he married Gaetana and started a family.  After enduring the dangerous conditions of working in the mines, and surviving multiple accidents, he was forced into an early retirement.  In 1974, he moved his family to St. Catharines to give them the best opportunities for the future.  Over the subsequent years, he made many great friends, and truly was the type of man that would literally give “the shirt off of his back” to help anyone.  As his children grew into adults and started their own families, Tommaso could be seen with a grin that went from ear to ear as the new additions to the family were added (both by marriage, and by birth).

As he aged, he started to have the typical issues that we all endure as we get older.  However, he never complained, and was a true gentleman to everyone that he met.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the PSWs that assisted him (especially Savitrie & Alpha) and the Home Care Nurses (Rosaline & Apsara).  Additionally, thanks to the Palliative Care Team at NHS – St. Catharines Site who treated Dad with the dignity and respect that he deserved, most notably Sherina, Hope and Lisa.
