Obituary of Rose Jane Masters

Our beautiful mother, Rose Masters, passed away, surrounded by our love on April 23, 2024. Rose is now reunited with her loving husband, Fred Masters (1983). Rose’s greatest joy in life came from time spent with her family.  Along with her two daughters, Shelley St. John and Sandra Maletta, her unwavering love extended to her sons-in-law, the late Kim St. John (2007) and John Maletta both of whom played a tremendous role in her life and happiness. Rose spent many hours with her grandchildren, Alexandra Maletta Candeloro (Antony Candeloro) and Jordan Maletta (Meagan Sivilotti). Rose was over the moon to have had the chance to spend time with her great grandson, Sunny Candeloro, whom she was determined to meet.

Rose loved reading anything she could get her hands on, newspapers, novels, and literature.  She was well versed on all subjects from sports to politics and pop culture, she always had an accurate point of view to share.

At 95 years of age, Rose continued to enjoy a perfect manicure and a weekly trip to the hairdressers. She was known at Amica Retirement Home, where she lived, for her red nails and silver curls. Rose had a love for animals both great and small. Her kind heart raised many cats and dogs to a ripe old age and she later loved when her furry grand pups came to visit.

Rose was strong, independent, witty, and determined, very determined. She knew what she wanted and never wavered from her decisions. She always gave 100% and expected nothing less from everyone else. We are all very proud and blessed to call her our mom, mother-in-law, grandmother, & great grandmother.

We wish to mention the outstanding care and compassion Rose received for the last 6 years while she lived at Amica Stoney Creek. The entire staff ensured Rose always felt loved and respected.  We would like to particularly thank a few very special girls, Riya, Arabia, and Beata. Their kindness went beyond any expectations.

As per Rose’s wishes, a private celebration of her life has taken place. We find great comfort knowing she is now resting peacefully. She will be missed greatly. Rose’s care has been entrusted to Darte Funeral Home in St. Catharines.
