Lorraine Chivers

Obituary of Lorraine Henriette Marie Chivers

It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of Lorraine Henriette Chivers on April 15 2024. Lorraine passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 87. Lorraine was born in Sudbury, Ontario and is the daughter of Albert and Clotilde Lalande. Lorraine is predeceased by her parents, soulmate and husband Mel Chivers and by her sister Rosalyn Charland.

Lorraine was a devoted and loving mother to Jill, Tracy and James. Gramma will forever be engraved in the hearts of her grandchildren Mike, Shannon (Jay), Carrie (P.J.) and Nicola and great-grandchildren James (Allyson), Nathan, Branden, Owen and Allison. Lorraine will be missed by her sister Diane Wolkowski and her nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a dedicated business manager and bookkeeper. She began working at a young age. Lorraine spent time crunching numbers for many local businesses and continued working into her 80’s. You could find Lorraine, her adding machine and spreadsheets even at her hospital bedside. When Lorraine wasn’t busy building business or crunching numbers for others, you could find her scouring the flyers and building her spreadsheets for her PC optimum points.

Lorraine was an avid gardener and enjoyed “Playing outside”. You could always find Lorraine in her garden tending lovingly to her plants. Lorraine loved her family and friends deeply. Lorraine had a great sense of humour and continued the promise to her late husband Mel to make the family laugh.

Every person that came into contact with Lorraine, she showed unconditional love and acceptance to. What Lorraine loved most of all was  spending time with her late husband Mel. Lorraine said prior to her passing that she is looking forward to a rendezvous with the love of her life in heaven. Lorraine was kind and loving woman and will be forever loved and missed by those who knew her.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the St. Catharine General Hospital on 3A for the great care provided. Lorraine left a note in her belongings that the family found that says “ All the staff are loving folks and I appreciate their kindness, so many thanks”

Arrangements have been entrusted with George Dart Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations can be made to Lorraine’s favorite charities, Sick Kids Hospital or The Heart and Stroke Foundation.
