To the French Family,
Our history as friends, family and in business together, began long ago with the relationship Doug had with my father, Wes Poynton. They knew each other as young men, earlier in life. My father told me many stories about their friendship over the years. I always knew how much Doug's friendship meant to my Dad. I watched their friendship grow over the years in business and in their personal lives. I only remember that Doug (Mr. French back then), was always there. My Dad and Doug did many things together, at work and outside, and included their families (although, not always). They were great friends. You could tell of their bond when they were together. I think that was how Doug was with everyone. He just made you feel comfortable. No matter the circumstance. I guess it was just who he was. Kind, interesting, funny, steadfast and loyal. A remarkable businessman and someone you were always glad to have around. Doug was a people person. He knew how to get things done. Everyone I knew, loved him. Doug was a huge influence in my life and the lives of my family. It goes back as far as I can remember. We were all lucky to have Doug be a part of our lives. This is how I will remember him. He was the most honorable and humblest man I ever met. A man with great compassion, humour and quick wit, and always a delight to be around. His guidance and mentorship were given freely and without reservation. He was kind and generous with time. You just couldn't help love being around Doug. A man I will never forget, along with the many memories I shared with his family over the years. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of Doug's life, and yours's.
I saw Doug only a few times over the last several years but learned to love and respect him more, each time. I think everyone loved Doug that way. I know I will miss him. I wish I could see all of you today while you celebrate Doug's life. My thoughts are with you.
With love and warmest regards,
Steve Poynton

Donna,
I wish to offer my sincere condolence to you, and your family. My wife and I always enjoyed your’ s and Doug’s company during a number of annual visits to The Sea Chest in Treasure Island, Fla.. We admired your demeanor, and strength during a very difficult time for both of you. However you were an example for all who met you. Please rest knowing that Doug has finally reunited with Kristen. Sending our heartfelt condolences to Donna and the family. Doug was so special to all of us and especially to our dad (Wally). Wally and Doug were long time best friends and were always there for each other throughout the years. Doug was so kind to all of us and treated us like family too. I remember many card nights with our parents (Pat and Wally) and Doug and Donna at our house where I was sitting in the other room and could just hear the laughter throughout the night! Heaven has gained an amazing man who we will all miss deeply.
Love, The Partridge family
