Obituary
Obituary of James Kenneth Shields
Surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 12th 2024, James “Jim” Shields passed peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 82nd year. Now forever reunited with his cherished spouse, Carrol Shields (nee Dunton). Jim was the proud father to the late Lindsay (Eric) Weir and their daughter, Makenna; Adam Shields and his children Jaclyn and Connor; beloved brother to Betty (Ron) Borkosky; brother-in-law to Bob (Michele) Dunton, JoAnn (Chris) Wood and Cheryl Dunton; Jim will be fondly remembered by his many loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Burton and Simone Shields, siblings Gerald (Tanya) Shields, Dorothy (Steve) Danko, Margaret (Bob) Casson and Donald Shields.
Jim will be remembered by many loving family members and close friends. He was a true family man who lived for his grandchildren to see them flourish and grow. Jim was a successful businessman and a passionate community supporter. He was involved with many business ventures over the years and loved making connections with everyone he met. Jim strongly believed in supporting the community and was always doing what he could to give back. He was a previous board member for Wellspring Niagara, a longtime member of the Jaycees, founding member of the WHEO (We Help Each Other) business club, and a member of the “It’s Our Time” capital campaign fundraising team for the St. Catharines General Hospital to name a few. Jim was an avid golfer, a huge fan of sports, music, and classic cars, enjoyed travelling the world, and was always there to support and encourage his family.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care provided by the nurses and doctors at the St. Catharines General Hospital.
Family will receive friends at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00–8:00pm. Cremation has taken place.
