It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Albert Kerklaan on Sunday, April 7, 2024. He was deeply loved by his wife, Michelle (Mickey) Kerklaan and his children Christopher (Maryanne), Jeffrey (Michelle) and Andrea (Brent) Corder, and grandchildren Amanda, Benjamin and Grace; also survived by his brother Albert (Carol), his sister Joanne (Orest) Shypowskji, his many nieces and nephews,and brother in law John Borbath. Predeceased by his parents Adrian and Nellie Kerklaan and his sisters Ada Borbath and Cathy Kerklaan. John was educated in St. Catharines. John spent 25 years with General Motors in Oshawa and St. Catharines and was President of St. Catharines Hydro upon retirement. John was a member of the Gyro Club, Rotary Club of St. Catharines, he was very active with the United Way of Niagara. John cultivated deep and long lasting friendships with many of his school, golf and bridge friends for which he was truly grateful. A special thank you to all the Staff at Niagara Long Term Care who touched our lives.
In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home ceremony room on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 11 a.m. with interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
