Charalambos Poursanidis

Obituary of Charalambos Poursanidis

Charalambos (Harry) Poursanidis born on March 3rd 1928 in Kalithea Greece and passed away at the St.Catharines General Hospital on Friday, March 23rd at the age of 96.

He was married to and survived by Maria (nee Kourpoutidou) for 70+ years.  Father to Steve (Karen) Poursanidis and the late Elpida Mavridis; Father in law to Bob Mavridis; Grandfather (Papou) to Stacie, Maria (Fraser) and Dina (Rob). Great grandfather (Papou Hambo) to Hope and Hayden. Brother to Niko, Eleni and the late Parthena and Vagios.

He will be missed by many family members in Greece and in Canada.  Harry immigrated to Canada in 1955 and spent his early years on farms before running his own chicken farm in Vineland Station.  He was heavily involved in the Church and Greek Community in Hamilton and later in St. Catharines.

We would like to thank the amazing staff at the St. Catharines General Hospital and Father Stavros for his blessings.

Papou was always saying he was leaving to go to “Changoori” a made up town that only he could go to when he didn’t want to say where he was headed (basically none of your business).

Farewell and safe travels to Changoori Papou.
