DEROCHIE, Mary Frances (nee MacDonell)
March 9th 1934- March 11, 2024
Passed away peacefully at Tabor Manor Long Term Care on March 11, 2024 at the age of 90. Predeceased by her husband Gerald. Remembered and loved by son Douglas (Vivian), son Gordon (Rosanna) and daughter Catherine (Andrew) Cepuch. Remembered by her grandchildren Marc (Michelle), Patrick (Jackie), Benjamin (Brittany), Carolyn (Jared), Michael (Sydney) and Evan. Great grandma to Sloane and Blaire. Survived by her brother Bernie, beloved niece Mary Margaret, sister in law Cheryl McDonell and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Alexander (Hugette) and Christopher, sister in law Helen, parents John and Margaret, infant daughter Maureen. Mary Frances was a Registered Nurse who graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Hotel Dieu Hospital in Cornwall, Ontario in 1956. She worked at the Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines from 1957 until retirement in the early 1990's. Mary Frances worked in the Maternity Ward for several years, until it closed then spent the remainder of her career on 4C (post surgical unit). She enjoyed Scottish Violin and Bagpipe music. Mary Frances was dedicated to nursing care. She was very well known in the hospital community. She had a great sense of humour and loved her bacon! She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. The family wish to extend and acknowledge and thank the staff at Tabor Manor for their exceptional care, attention and compassion. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, March 17th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. Vigil prayers will take place at 3p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street, St Catharines on Monday, March 18th at 9:30a.m. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. Memorial donations to Tabor Manor, Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated by the family. |
