Obituary of Clarence Gallant
GALLANT, Clarence Frank
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce that Clarence Frank Gallant, aged 74 years, passed away on October 3rd , 2012 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Loving and very loved husband of 55 years to the late Irene Gallant. Beloved father of Karen (and her husband Richard Howell) and the late Cathy Gallant Lim. Loving Pappa and best buddy of Brady Howell. Dearest brother to Sister Reta Gallant of Prince Edward Island and Ed, Jim and Vernon Gallant, all of Calgary. Wonderful brother-in-law to Marie and Louis Lund of St Catharines, and Glady Mackay, Gerard and Paula Murnaghan, and Vince and Judy Murnaghan-all of Prince Edward Island. Fun-loving and very special uncle to many nieces and nephews with a special place in the hearts of Rick, Leigh and Darren Lund. A friend, extra dad, brother or grandpa to all who knew him and welcomed him into their hearts. He enriched so many lives with his exceptional character and loving nature. In return, his life was enriched by many wonderfully close and loving generous friends including the Trainor, Degraw, Hassim and Demontbrun families and so many others far too numerous to list. We do not know of anyone else who enjoyed making people laugh as much as he did. Clarence served the people of Canada for about 10 years as a member of the Canadian Guards. He will be remembered as a man of enormous generosity, compassion, warmth, intellect and wit. The gratitude of his family is extended to Dr Walser-Jebb for her care and friendship.
Clarence's family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, on Monday, October 8th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine Street on Tuesday, October 9th at 11am. Rite of Committal to follow in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will be recited in the funeral home chapel on Monday at 3pm. If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
