Obituary of Rita Marano
Rita Marano (nee:Spadafora) passed away peacefully at Tabor Manor on October 26, 2023 at the age of 91. Beloved Mama to Salvatore (Patti) Marano Jr. and son-in-law Dennis Bausch. Cherished Nana to Kristy (Michael), Bryan (Rachel), Houston (Clay), Salvatore III and Lily. Great Nana to Peyton, Taylor, Brooklyn and Liam. Special Zia to Leonardo, Rinuzza (Mimmo), Sergio (Eva), Aurelia (Dierk) and Aurora (Dale). Special Great Zia to Keegan and Shayla. Rita was predeceased by her daughter Julia Bausch, first husband Leonardo DeFazio, second husband of over 50 years Salvatore Marano and her siblings - Guiseppe Spadafora, Marietta Menna and Giovanni Spadafora. Rita will be lovingly remembered by extended family and friends.
Rita was a very social, generous and loving woman. She welcomed young and old alike, with a wide smile, good food and lively conversation. She fostered close connections with so many and was happiest when in the company of family and friends. Rita was known for her resilience, strong will and good humour which she maintained to the very end. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family extends sincere gratitude to all the staff at Tabor Manor for the wonderful care they provided to Rita.
Donations to the Alzheimers Society in Rita's memory in lieu of flowers are welcomed. Family and friends will be received at George Darte Funeral Home 585 Carlton St, St Catharines, Ont, L2M 4Y1 (905-937-4444) on Wednesday November 1st from 10am-1pm with a funeral service in the funeral home ceremony room at 1pm with a burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow.
