Marg Harris posted a condolence

I shall miss looking forward to running into Aunt Marg next summer. Never visited much but when we did there was a special bond. At least that's what I felt.
I was the flower girl at her wedding. I was her babysitter for Peter, Bobby and Barbara-Jane. She made the best pies and a slice of her pie would inspire me to be extra nice to my cousins. And strips of Wrigleys gum inspired them to be nice to me. Aunt Marg used to laugh when I told her behind-the-scenes stories of those days. What a musical laugh she had!
My strongest memory of Aunt Marg, which I will always cherish, is of a brisk spring day a few years ago when I answered my door and there she was! Bright red lipstick, jaunty beret. She had never come to visit me at home before. "May I come in?". "Yes, Aunt Marg! Excuse me. I'm so surprised!" We shared a cup of coffee and she admired my collection of beautiful tea cups, then asked if I would give her two so she could have civilized tea with her new friend at the seniors home where they drank out of glass mugs. Maybe she made it up, but now it's my sweetest memory of Aunt Marg.
Happy trails!!
Love,
Marg (Wilkens) Harris

Margarete Higenell and my Mother, Melitta Russel worked together at Heidehof for many years. Margarete was such a kind person and friend to my Mom during their time together in the 70's. My Mother would speak of her acts of kindness with the residents and staff at Heidehof to my Brother and I. I have never forgotten those stories and lessons from fifty years ago. My condolences to the entire Higenell family. Terry Russel.

There are a ton of memories of times shared at your house as teenagers. I always remember your Mom's smile and the times she said Barbara! I've even had dreams about being young again at your house.
Hugs for all of you.
Love Bill and Tena Horne
