Obituary of Nina J. Edward
Oh dear…Nina Edward (November 6, 1927 – October 17, 2023) passed away peacefully in her 96th year. Predeceased by her husband of more than 60 years, Edwin A. Edward (2011), and her grandson, Ryan (1990). Nina was the eldest and last surviving child of Joseph and Stephanie Levchuk, predeceased by her sister, Maria and brother Nickolas. Nina is survived by her two sons, Steven (Gina) and James (Katheryn) Edward, and four grandchildren: Morgan, Matthew, Connor, and Ashlyn. Nina had a long, active, and happy life; she enjoyed a long career at CIBC in an era of few “working moms”. When not raising two active boys, Nina and Ed escaped winter in Florida and relaxed at the cottage in summer. In their “spare time”, Nina and Ed volunteered many hours supporting the youth activities of the Grantham Optimist Club. Nina loved to read and play cards. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; in one word, she was "Nice". Always generous with her love, support, and time, she was liked and loved by everyone. We will miss her greatly. Thank you to the dedicated staff of Tabor Manor and St. Catharines General Hospital for their wonderful care in her final days. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the George Darte Funeral Home and a Celebration of her life is being planned. Friends and family will be notified once the details are finalized.
