Obituary of Salvatore Vilone

VILONE SALVATORE It is with a very heavy heart that we share our father, Salvatore Vilone, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in St. Catharine's General Hospital, St. Catharine's, Ontario. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by his family. Suddenly and unexpectedly, on Friday, October 26, he suffered from a massive stroke. He was about to make his way home, after spending an afternoon out in the forest with friends enjoying one of his favourite outdoor activities - hunting. He was found by his truck where he had collapsed. We now understand that the stroke caused a severe brain bleed which put him into coma. Our father would have been 79 years of age on December 1, 2012. He was born in Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy and immigrated to Canada shortly after he and our mother were married. Coming to Canada as for many immigrants of his time, meant the opportunity for a better life. He and our mother found their way to Timmins, Ontario, so that is how we came to be the daughters of an Italian miner. Our father will be missed by his many family members and friends, but most especially by his wife/our mother - Natalina; his daughters †" Teresa (Robert), Lea (Anthony), Maria (David) and Francesca (Sasha); and his 9 grandchildren - Natalie, Jessica, Michael, Emily-Grace, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, Sam, and little Michael. Our father was blessed to have been led to Northern Ontario as he loved the outdoors. His favourite hobbies were fishing and hunting. He had a passion for food and cooking and everything he did was sprinkled with wit and humour (We like to think that we got our sense of humour from him). As family and friends rushed to his bedside, we are pleased to write that we spent the time sharing fond stories, most of which were filled with laughter. Our family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday, November 1st from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated in St. Alfred's Church, 272 Vine St. on Friday at 11am. Rite of committal at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill. Vigil prayers will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 3pm. Memorial donations to the Leukemia Foundation would be appreciated by the family. "Your Loving wife and daughters"
