Uncle Ray will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and loved
in-laws from both the McDonald and Sauntry families.
Born in Williamstown, New Brunswick, Ray made his way to the Niagara Region
in the 1950's where he eventually met his wife of 52 years, Sheila. He
retired from General Motors in 1990 after 38 years of service and was
actively involved with CAW Local 199. “Ray of Sunshine” enjoyed a good
party and was known for his step dance and famous dancing shoes, bowling,
lawn darts and euchre. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leaf and Blue Jays
fan.
A celebration of Ray’s life will take place Saturday, September 16 at 12:30
p.m. at the George Darte Funeral Chapel, 585 Carlton Street, St.
Catharines. Visitation will take place prior to the celebration from 11:30
a.m. - 12:30 p.m. In honour of Ray's continued generosity, the family would appreciate
donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Niagara in lieu of
flowers.
