Conrad Joseph Lionel Schryer
January 5, 1949 - August 14, 2023
Conrad, in his 75th year, passed away peacefully with loving family and caregivers by his side at the Linhaven Long Term Care Home. He was predeceased by his loving wife Shirley (nee Burtch) (2019) of 39 years, parents Claire and Arthur Schryer, brothers Donald and Gilles Schryer and step-daughters Barb Anderson and Kathie Anderson. He is survived by his children Julie Auger of Maniwaki, Quebec, Claire Schryer (Denis Fobert) of Gatineau, Quebec, Martin Schryer (Manon Trottier) of Gatineau, Quebec and step-children Gerrie Deline (Ace) of Niagara Falls, Bruce Anderson of St. Catharines, Ross Anderson (Marianne) of Guelph and Wendy Guignard (Yvon) of St. Catharines. He is also survived by sisters Germaine Schryer (Jean Theriault) of Gatineau, Quebec, Micheline Schryer of Gatineau, Quebec, Celine Schryer (Denis Desormeaux) of Gatineau, Quebec, brother Jacques Schryer (Diane Grenier) of Gatineau, Quebec, and sister-in-law Celine Pilon of Gatineau, Quebec (wife of deceased brother Gilles) and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was born in Laval Quebec and moved to St. Catharines where he worked at Affinia, formerly known as ITT Aimco, in the Pattern Shop until his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed doing woodworking in his spare time but his greatest joy was cheering on his beloved HABS . . . a die-hard Montreal Canadien fan all his life.
As a resident of Linhaven, Conrad was very appreciative of the outstanding care he received and the friendships he made with the nursing staff and he will be greatly missed.
Conrad's arrangements have been entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. As per Conrad's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 10:30 at the Victoria Lawn Cemetery, 431 Queenston Street, St. Catharines, Ontario, L2P 2Y3. In memory of Conrad his family would appreciate donations to a charity of your choice.
