Obituary of Marion Therese Girard

Born Marilyn Therese (Marion) Robichaud, in Windsor Ontario, April 2nd, 1926; relocated with her family to a farm in Monteith during the great depression, Marion lived a long, meaningful life filled with gratitude and grace. Meeting her Husband, Henri Cossette, at the Monteith train station in 1940 when he was stationed at the Prisoner of War Camp during WWII, they waited until he returned from active service oversees, to marry in the winter of 1947.  From July, 1948 until her time of death, she was a Western hill resident, whose heart was always that of a northern girl.  Marion is the beloved grandmother of Daniel and Julie Tatarnic, great-grandmother of Cecilia and Gordon, and grandmother-in-law to Martha Tatarnic.  Marion is predeceased by her husband, Henri (1989).  Predeceased by her children: Jean Paul (1965), Gerald (1978), and Helen (2016). Marion was the last living sibling of the Robichaud family, of those born to Alphonse and Dorothy.  Marion was a devout Christian, and her life resonated with a joy of faith. Therefore, Rites of Christian burial will take place At St. George’s Anglican Church, 83 Church Street, St. Catharines (Parking off Raymond Street), on Friday, August 18th.  Visitation will take place one hour prior to service time, beginning at 10.00 am.  Funeral Mass begins at 11.00, and will be live-streamed through the St. George’s church website.  Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, and to honour Marion’s farming past, the family invites donations to be made to St. Alban Anglican Church: Migrant Farm Work Ministry.
