Obituary of Michelina Memme
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Michelina “Lina” Memme announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, August 10th 2023, the age of 89 with family by her side. Devoted wife of the late Fiore Memme; cherished mother to daughter, Loretta (Scott) Gillis; Nonna to Matthew (Laura) Gillis and James (Amanda) Gillis; Great-Nonna to Isaac, Grace, Nathan and Norman; sister to Peter Basciano; sister-in-law to Mary Basciano; aunt to Josie DiLoreto, Antoinette Sorbara, Gianni Basciano, Mark Basciano and Michelle Basciano; predeceased by Lina are her siblings Domenica (Antonio) Memme, and Nick Basciano and sister-in-law Giovannina Basciano. The family wish to extend their gratitude to the PSW Roz and ParaMed nurse, Sharlene for their great compassion and care. Special thanks to you Theresa Hombrebueno for your wonderful companionship and care over the years. In keeping with Lina’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family welcome guests for a time of visitation on Monday, August 14th 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00PM and 6:00 – 8:00PM with prayers beginning at 3:30PM and Tuesday, August 15th from 9:30AM- 10:30AM with an 11:00AM Funeral Mass to follow at St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Ave. with a private entombment on Wednesday, August 16th.
