Connie Hammond

Obituary of Connie Hammond

Constance Christine Hammond (Connie), born to Edward and Violet Gardiner, Windsor, Ontario, February 11th 1950. It is with profound heartbreak and sadness, to announce the passing of Connie on July 21st 2023. She was brave and fought as hard as she could for many years. Recent events, weakened her fragile lungs, and she could not battle back this time. Connie leaves behind her beloved husband of 49 years, Bruce. Connie and Bruce shared a love and commitment to one another that was to be in awe of, one to aspire to. Bruce lovingly referred to her as “Pet”. Connie was his sun, moon and stars above. Throughout their 49 years of marriage, they created many memories to be cherished, and supported one another through tragedy, loss and sickness, never once wavering from their commitment to one another, rather carrying each other through it all.

Connie was the beautiful, loving and caring mother to her daughter, Gina (Johnny Canaon) and son, Ross. She was also the proud grandmother to Brianna, Chauntelle, Dalton and Brodie Brady (Olivia Watson) for whom she loved and cherished. Connie’s world became a better place upon the arrivals of her great grandchildren Carter, Everleigh and her namesake Mavis Constance.

Connie kept close in her heart her love for Dennis Brady and Kara Renaud, forever a part of her family.

Connie will be sorely missed by her cherished best friend  Marg Gauvin. Connie is survived by her sister Lynn Dee, sister-in-law Lorraine Hammond, sister-in-law Bev Gardiner, predeceased by her brother, Ken Gardiner, brother-in-law, Allan Hammond, parents Edward and Violet Gardiner; in-laws, Ross and Catherine (Kay) Hammond, as well as her beloved son, Ross Hammond.

We can only hope and hold tight to the thoughts that she was lovingly greeted by them, upon her passing.

When you sit down for a hot cup of tea, think of Connie fondly.

Connie’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the St. Catharines NHS Hospital, especially Dr. Jenson and nurse Katrina for their kindness, compassion, guidance and empathy. Expressions of gratitude to Dr. Chaudhry, Dr. Nolan and Dr. Kim.

She was so greatly loved and will be kept in our hearts until we meet again.
