Obituary of George Gribilas

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of George Gribilas on Thursday, July 20th 2023 with family at his side. Cherished spouse to Athina; dear step-father to Rita (Paul), Kathy and Laki (Melissa), brother to Dimitra Giannarakis; brother-in-law to Corthelio Gribilas; uncle to Efrosini (Vasili), Voula (Dave), Frosso (Andreas), Dora, Antonis and Georgios; great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Antonis and Efrosini Gribilas; his brothers, Panagiotis and Yiannis; brother-in-law Nikolaos Giannarakis and sister-in-law Stathoula Gribilas. Born in Demonia, Lakonia Greece, George immigrated to Canada back in the 1970s where he began working in the beautiful Niagara Region. After a long life, George leaves behind many loved ones that will miss him from Canada and in Greece. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and vacationing in Greece. The family wish to express their gratification to the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. In keeping with George’s wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. A funeral service and will be held at the St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 25th. The First Thrice Holy Hymn/Trisagio will be held at the St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church. It will be followed by the funeral service, the Final Thrice Holy Hymn Service/Trisagio will occur at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. If desired, donations to the St. Katharine Greek Orthodox Church and/or Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of George can be made.
