Andy Schertzer

April 30, 1948 - July 2, 2023

Andy passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on July 2nd at home with his family by his side. He was his wife Janie’s best friend for fifty-eight years and husband for fifty-three years. He was the beloved father of Laura (Steve) Valvasori and Amie (Tim Winter) Huisman.

He was the proud Papa of four grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, Stella and Gavin, and step-grandchildren Jack, Dylan and Bella. He is survived by his sister Trudy (Danny) Novak and his sisters-in-law Marilyn Regan and Doreen Leish.

Andy apprenticed as a Pattern Maker and later earned his BA in Metallurgy at McMaster University. He spent his career as a supervisor for thirty-seven years at ITT Aimco and then as a consultant where he worked with three engineers on a patent they designed. After he retired, he started Reliable Home Repairs. He worked on many projects throughout the Niagara Region and made many friends along the way.

Andy had a gentle soul that left an impression on the world in his own quiet way. He was hard working, kind, and generous. He was an avid fisherman, but most enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially around the pool.

Cremation has taken place. Please join the family on Wednesday, July 5th from 2 to 4 pm or 7 to 9 pm for visitation and for a Celebration of Life on Thursday, July 6th at 11 am at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The service will be live streamed at  Andy Schertzer's Live Stream

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada or the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
