Obituary of Gerald Allan Groombridge

GROOMBRIDGE, Gerald Allan (Gerry) – It is with deep sadness we announce Gerry's departure, realizing God has taken him home. Survived by his Soul Mate and the love of his life for 60 years Janet (Lawther), his Wee Hen. His beloved son Tom and cherished daughter Debbie (Paul) Kopeschny. Beloved Papa to Devon and Brooklyn (also Cathy and Anne (Letkeman) Predeceased by his parents Fred and Florence, his brother Murl and sister Dorothy. Gerry will miss his coffee pals, Wayne and Bryce as well as his cherished cousins Betty and Ray McDougall of Eastman Corners, ON. Gerry was a 31-year City of St Catharines Fire Department member, retiring as an Inspector in 1992. He had a very special place in his heart for those less fortunate than him. Gerry did his best to support them. Special thanks to Dr. Bayley and her staff, good friends, Tina and Jocko and his buddies Dick Penner and John Rempel. Please do not remember me as I am today. Remember the good times. Time has taken its toll. I'm not the same person I used to be. I leave you with my favorite sayings "Keep Looking Up" and "Keep Smiling". Let us think about each other and help each other to show love and good deeds. -  "Heb.10-24".  Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St Catharines on Friday, June 23rd from 9 a.m.-11a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11a.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Salvation Army, Out of the Cold Program or Ina Grafton.
