Obituary of Joseph Stanislaus Saranchuk

SARANCHUK, Joseph

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful son Joseph Stanislaus Saranchuk. On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 22, after a courageous four-month battle with cancer, Joseph's unbreakable spirit was lifted up to our Lord. His courage, selflessness and determination, in the midst of suffering, serves as an inspiration to us all.

In this world, Joseph had so many talents and strengths. He was brilliant, compassionate, and genuine. He had the most wonderful sense of humour and was a dedicated athlete and a loving son, brother, friend and boyfriend. He left a lasting impression on everyone who met him.

Joseph's support and encouragement knew no bounds, as he always extended a helping hand and insightful words to his loved ones. He shared meals, offered kindness to those less fortunate, and had a great rapport with children, delighting in their playfulness and innocence. He always strived to better himself in body, mind and spirit.

Joseph was a bright criminology student at Laurier University in Brantford, driven by a deep desire to become a first responder and make a difference in people's lives. His positivity shone brightly, touching the lives of many. Joseph found joy in playing soccer, hockey, rowing, and football. His interests included hiking, playing pool, video games, watching movies, anime, and playing board games with his family. He was a great entertainer and had a way with words. As he looked forward to his future, Joseph had plans to propose to the love of his life, Vanessa, who stood by his side with great love until he breathed his last breath on this earth.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved parents, Matthew and Diana Saranchuk, his siblings Mariella, Lily, and Daniel, his grandfather George Saranchuk, his girlfriend Vanessa, and his loving aunts and uncles: Maria (Tony), Joe, Patricia (Jim), Andrew (Kim), John, Peter (Jingjing), Patrick (Natalie), David, Mary Kate, and many cousins.

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported Joseph through their numerous prayers, financial support, helpful hands, kind words, and loving gestures. We would also like to thank the dedicated staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and those who stood by Joseph’s side offering the most beautiful unconditional love that we have ever seen.

As we mourn the loss of Joseph, let us remember his radiant spirit, unwavering love,  determination, strength and the profound impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

If you wish to make a donation in Joseph’s name, please consider giving to Saint Gianna & Pietro Molla Maternity Home (North Dakota) and Start Me Up Niagara.
