Obituary of Liam Owen Vickers
Liam Owen Vickers 1997 - 2023.
With broken hearts and immense sadness, we announce the death of our dear son and brother, Liam “Woody” Vickers. On May 2nd, Liam succumbed to his injuries in Kingston General Hospital following a car accident 3 weeks earlier. Liam was the treasured son to Stefanie and Neil Vickers, and a cherished sibling to his sisters, Tegan and Tawnie. Liam was also the precious grandson of Inge and Don Jago, “Omi & Grandpy,” as well as Jenny and the predeceased Gerry Tuffin, “Nana & Poppa.” Liam will also be missed by his many cousins, Aunts, and Uncles in both Canada and England abroad, as well as his dog, Lexi.
Pte. Liam Owen Vickers was born in Niagara Falls on March 1st, 1997, and spent the majority of his life in St. Catharines where he effortlessly made countless friends and memories with his gentle and easy-going nature. Throughout high school, Liam developed a love for rowing and continued to fuel this passion after enlisting with the Canadian Armed Forces and attending Royal Military College. Liam made eternal bonds with his crew and coaches, and even went on to represent Canada in the 100th Anniversary of the King’s Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta in England. Liam was studying to be a Geomatics Technician with the School of Military Mapping through Algonquin College and the CAF. Sapper Vickers was set to graduate in June and was to be posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment at CFB Petawawa. A special thank you from the family to our irreplaceable friends, as well as the compassionate doctors and nurses in Kingston’s ICU - especially Doctors Jeff Curran, David Messenger, Jamees Ahlin, and Social Worker Robin Westphal.
