Dugo, Vincent Salvatore Joseph - Surrounded by the love of his family, Vincent, in his 102nd year, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Vincent, beloved and cherished husband of the late Mary (2013) for 58 years, will be lovingly remembered by his children Maureen, Larry (Barbara) and Catherine (Kevin); his adored grandchildren Carly, Emily (Nick) and Julia. Also survived by his younger brother Rev. Lawrence Dugo of Toronto and his sister-in-law Marguerite Boyle of Ottawa. He was predeceased by parents Augostino (1951) and Antonina (1979) and his brother-in-law Thomas Joseph Boyle (2014). He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews and many relatives and friends.
Vincent was a teacher of Latin and English at Grantham High School in the 1950’s and 60’s and then Head of Guidance for 16 years at West Park Secondary School of the Lincoln County Board of Education retiring in 1986.
He was a founding member of St. Julia Catholic Church and his faith was an important part of his daily life. He was a kind man, a gentle man, and a gentleman. He loved his family and his faith. The love and respect we have for his guidance, wisdom and insight will be deeply missed.
Special thanks to Dr. Adewale Aromolaran and Dr. Roger Rose, whose care and support was much appreciated. Thanks as well to Vincent and Mary's caregivers Jinnet, Marissa, Margaret, Rachelle and Beth for their dedication and loving care allowing them to stay in their home. And of course special thanks to his ‘roomie’ Maureen for her love and dedicated care for Dad. The past eight years Dad and his caregiver Jinnet Portela were best friends. They developed a beautiful trusting and caring relationship that was admired and so appreciated by the family. We always knew he was being taken care of with love and respect all while having so much fun together.
We will continue to love and support each other with the loving ways you and Mom showed us over the years. Dad enjoy your Friday Harvey hamburger and fries while cheering on your Blue Jays, Yankees and Bills. We cherished our time with you these last wonderful years … Rest In Peace Dad. A life lived well.
Family will receive friends at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. (vigil prayers at 3:30 p.m.) and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Avenue on Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
