Teresa Venneri

Obituary of Teresa Venneri

Maria Teresa Venneri (nee Iocca) 1944-2023

It is with great sadness that we announce Teresa’s passing on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the age of 79 at St. Catharines, ON.  After a sudden, brief illness, she passed peacefully with her family and close friends by her side.

Teresa is survived by Lidio, her loving husband of 58 years, her sons and daughters-in-law: Albert and Connie and David and Trish. She is also survived by her ‘5 million dollar lottery win’: her grandsons Tomas, Jack, Samuel, Blake and Eric. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Grace (late Pacifico) Sirignano and Paula (late Sam) Memme as well as her in-laws, Vanda (Ralph) Guarasci, Anna (Joe) Roselli, Freddy (Judy) Venneri, Emma (Pietro) Nasato and Marcella (late Lenny) Serravalle. Teresa will be remembered by many nieces and nephews and by dear special lifelong friends.

Teresa is predeceased by her parents Domenico and Alba Iocca and her cherished twin sister Josie (late Wendell) Harper.

Born January 1, 1944 in Castellino del Biferno, Campobasso, Italy, Teresa immigrated to Canada with her family by way of Argentina. Teresa loved her work at Queenston Medical Laboratories where she greeted patients with her charm and warm smile.

Her passion was golf with her many golf partners but mostly her sister Josie and friends Annie and Rosemary. This passion, combined with her 40-year membership in Club Roma’s Women's Auxiliary, propelled her to establish the Club Roma Ladies Auxiliary Charity Golf Tournament which she coordinated annually for twenty-five years.

Teresa found meaning in life in everything from the beauty of nature to her favourite Dean Martin songs. She was in awe of what the world had to offer. Her storytelling was legendary as she would narrate her life in Italy, Argentina and as a young lady in Canada in the 1950s and 60s. She built a life with Lidio and raised two adoring sons. Teresa was the best mom to her boys, the best nonna to her grandsons and the best partner to her husband. She will be sadly missed by anyone who had the opportunity to know her.

In accordance with Teresa’s wishes, a private service is planned for her immediate family. Please share your memories of Teresa with our family on the George Darte Funeral Home website. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Tender Wishes Foundation would be appreciated by the Family.
