Obituary of Brian Michael Woods

Brian Michael Woods age 86 of Selkirk Ontario passed away peacefully at the Dunnville Memorial Hospital on February 18th. Brian was

born the son of Margaret Ann McBennett and Duncan Woods, he immigrated to Canada with his parents and sister Rita in 1948 where they

settled in Port Dalhousie and he spent his childhood playing soccer and lacrosse and attending St Anne’s school. He loved time at Lakeside

Park on the beach and had a job in the old midway operating the airplane rides.

When Brian married Jeanette in July 1962 they chose to raise their children in Port Dalhousie, finding a home on Verdun Ave where they were

surrounded by amazing neighbours that became lifelong friends for their children.Brian continued with his passion for sports and would coach

many teams that his son Brad played on, including the Golden Eagles lacrosse team that Brian designed the crest for the jersey.

In his mid life Brian discovered a passion for sailing. You could often find him on Lake Erie sailing with his partner Patricia Lane. Brian became

very involved at the Port Colbourne Yacht club where he served as Commador.

Brian had a passion for art and music. He enjoyed painting landscapes especially of Lake Erie. In his later years Brian spent time playing his

guitar, in the last few years with  failing health playing his guitar and watching the waves from his home on Lake Erie brought him much comfort

and joy.Brian is survived by his sister Rita ( Maggie) Mahon of New Zealand his son Craig Renwick (Corey) of South Pasadena, son Brad

Woods (Jill) grandson Duncan of St Catharines, Daughter Sandra Summers(Rob) of Osoyoos BC,Grandson Keefer Gibson( Jessica) Calgary

great grandchildren Alden and Asher Gibson. Granddaughter Lauren Summers of Saskatoon.The family would like to thank the staff at

Dunnville Memorial Hospital for their incredible care  and compassion of Brian in his final days. At Brian’s request there will be no

funeral. Cremation has taken place. We hope you find a beautiful lake to enjoy the waves wherever you go dad.
