Obituary of Myrtle Grace Lyon-Hunt

 

 

With heavy hearts, the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Myrtle Lyon-Hunt, on Wednesday, February 15th 2023 after a long and courageous battle with many health issues and family by her side. Myrtle leaves behind her beloved husband, Peter Hunt of 17 years; loving children: Mal (Kathy), Nancy (Bob); proud Nana to Matthew (Hayley), Marcus (Heather), Peter’s children: Jim (Chris), Barb (Chris) and Kevin; Great-Nana to Addison, Tessa, Grace and Samantha. Myrtle was predeceased by her parents, Ewan and Irene and her seven brothers and sisters as well as her first husband, Malcolm Sr.  Myrtle worked at Linhaven as a Dietician, where they called her “Miss Perfect” and further volunteered her time at the George Darte Funeral Home facilitating a recovery group where she met her current husband, Peter. She enjoyed golfing, car rides, travelling and playing cards with Gloria and Bill. The family wish to give thanks to: Gloria, Bill, Barb, Chris, Jim and good friends Derek and Ada who went above and beyond for their love and support throughout everything, as well as the nurses and staff at the NHS-St. Catharines. In accordance with her wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family wish to invite friends and family for a time of gathering on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 10:00AM-12:00PM with a funeral service to follow in the funeral home ceremony room. A Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery with a reception to follow in the Kristen French Fellowship Hall located in the funeral home. If desired, please consider making donations to the Walker Family Cancer Centre in honour of Myrtle.
