Obituary of Alistair Thomson

The world lost one of it's most interesting and entertaining conversationalists when Alistair (Al) Thomson passed away on January 25, 2023.
Al was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland on March 22, 1940, and came to Canada in May 1966.
Jack of all trades and master of some, he has been captain of school football team, competetive swimmer, one-mile runner, Queen's Scout, structural engineer, sales engineer, project manager, file producer, show producer, teacher to adults, opinionated and entertaining essayist, memoir writer, computer programmer, cosmetic company president, fleet captain, trophy sailor, scrutineer, political candidate's volunteer, stamp collector, pop can collector, entrepreneur, investor, adept at sports; soccer, table tennis, snooker, billiards, eight-ball, hill-climbing cyclist, soccer coach; member of three investment clubs, president of networking group on two occasions, and an avid birder.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Samuel and Catherine Thomson, his brother Ian (Irene), his wife Georgina, and his son Brian.
He will be sadly missed by his step-sons Stephen Sibbit, Scott and Todd Laudy and their families, step-daughters Francine Bryant (Vaughn), and Tamara Thomson, grandsons William, Stephen, and family, and Nicholas, and great-grandaughter Everleigh, cousins throughout North America and Britain, his good friend Anne Osborne, and his many sailing, golfing and billiards pals.
At Al's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation and service at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines (905-937-4444) on Saturday, Feb. 4th from 11am-1pm with service to follow at 1pm in the funeral home chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or The Heart And Stroke Foundation.
