1935 - 2023

The depth of our grief is a reflection of our love for Sophia. Her sudden passing on Monday, January 9th, 2023 impacts her family immeasurably. Husband Hank and sons Arny (Mary) and Glen mourn a truly loving, caring, dedicated wife and mother as do siblings, Ann, Gary (Kathy), Judy, Tina (Jim) and Joe (Brenda) Predeceased by her brother-in-law Bill (2011), brother John (2002) and sister Hilda(2018). Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jennifer (Brandon), Jamie Lynn and Andrew.

Sophia immigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings from the Netherlands in 1952. Here she met and married Hank. Sophia was proud of her Dutch heritage. Family gatherings were filled with laughter reliving those early memories of life in Holland.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13th at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 585 Carlton St., from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Final Tribute for Sophia will be held in the ceremony room of the funeral home Saturday, January 14th at 11am. Cremation. If so desired donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Sophia's memory would be appreciated by her family.
