Obituary of Peter Westveer

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Peter. After a long-fought battle with cancer, we are thankful his suffering has ended. Adoring husband to Diane for over 44 years, supportive and committed father to Adam, Greg (Stephanie), and Jennifer (Kyle Daniels). Selfless Grandpa to Adelyn, Carter, and Eli. Peter will be dearly missed by his loving sisters Joanne (Tom Janzen), and Sylvia (Brian Delano), as well as his brother and sister-in-laws Andre (Lynn) Champagne, Ron (Maureen) Champagne, John (Connie) Champagne, Anne Marie (Manny Otto), Monique (Darryl Adgey). Peter will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and all those who Peter considered family.

A carpenter by trade, Peter shared his gift beyond his work. He was always helping others, either by sharing a tool, his wisdom, or his time. He spent many years coaching his boys in both soccer and hockey, and cheering on his daughter in ringette.  Countless memories and stories will be shared about Golden Lake, his happy place for over forty years. When he wasn’t at the lake, he could be found puttering in his workshop or tending to his beautiful gardens. Peter’s transition from father to grandfather was something he truly embraced without hesitation. His grandchildren provided inspiration to live life to the fullest.  

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 6-8pm and Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 10am-12pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Celebration of Life will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, December 22 at 12pm.
