Obituary of Nicoletta Congiu
It is with heavy hearts the family announce the passing of Nicoletta Congiu (nee Fresu) the matriarch of the Congiu family on Wednesday, December 7th 2022 with family by her side at the age of 99. Cherished mother to Cosimo (Dosia) Congiu, Guy (Tom) Barratt, Marie (Leo) Magarian, mother-in-law to Derek Patriquin; proud grandmother to Adam (Denise), Andrew (Kelly), Chris (Rose), Nicole (Brandon), Kiel (Natasha), Justin (Amanda), Jaden (Darion) and Ben; great-grandmother to Shelby, Ella, Liam, Joanna and Mia and will be missed by all living and predeceased family in Sardegna. Nicoletta was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore, children Nick and Franca, brother Frank, nephew Nick and grandson Archie. Nicoletta found joy working in her garden alongside her best friends, Sunrise and Joe. Some of her best memories were sharing her kitchen with her grandchildren, teaching them to cook traditional style Sardegnian meals as well as decorating desserts and spending time with her loving family. Nicoletta had a deep care for all animals and would appreciate in leu of flowers that you consider making a donation in her memory to the Lincoln County Humane Society. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and gratitude to the many PSWs and Nurses over the many years. In keeping with her wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family welcomes guests for a time of visitation on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM with a private vigil prayer service and a public Funeral Mass to be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14th 2022 at St. Alfred’s Church 272 Vine St., St. Catharines. A private entombment shall be held following the Funeral Mass at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
