Obituary of Rolando Lamberto Filippetti
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear husband, Dad, and Nonno, Rolando Lamberto Filippetti, on Thursday December 1, 2022.
Beloved husband of 58 years to Kerstin; loving Dad to Andre (Nancy), Nathalie (James), and Katya; and very proud Nonno to Aiden, Lucas, Olivia and Ridley.
Rolando will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his friends and extended family, especially his younger surviving brother, Fiorenzo (Fiorella), and cousin, Adriana (Umberto). He is predeceased by his mother Esterina, father Giuseppe, and brother Raimondo in Italy.
Arriving from Italy in the mid-1960s, he took his family on an adventure across many provinces, always a hard worker and provider, always focused on the well-being of his family.
Everyone who knew him knew he had a passion for soccer. A highlight as a young man was to play for the Pope in Rome. In the ‘90s, he became very involved in volunteering at Club Roma, including serving as President of Club Roma’s Soccer Association for many years. The TV at home was always set to a soccer game, no matter the time of day - he knew every team, every player. He also loved playing cards with family around the dinner table or with friends at Club Roma on Wednesday nights.
The family will honour him with a Celebration of Life on December 17th from 1-6pm at George Darte Funeral Home. A service will take place at 3pm with refreshments following. In lieu of flowers, we appreciate donations in memory of Rolando be made out to the Canadian Diabetes Association or The Kidney Foundation of Canada.
There will never be a day we won’t think of him and wish he were still with us. We will miss and love him always.
