Obituary of Elaine Kathryn Flynn

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Elaine Kathryn Flynn (Boyd) on Friday, November 25, 2022 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. 

Born March 26, 1935. Predeceased by husband William Francis Flynn, father Donald C. Boyd (of Ripley, Ontario) and mother Katherine (MacDonald) (of North Sydney, Nova Scotia); Survived by brother Donald Boyd (Doris); children Joseph, Timothy, Thomas (Leeann), Ann Marie, and John; beloved grandchildren Liam, Kristin and Clare; loving cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Elaine, like her husband, was a kind, intelligent and witty soul who blessed her children with a healthy sense of humor to handle even the worst of circumstances. Insatiably curious, she loved to read and garden. Treasured memories of her youth included summers spent in her family farming community in Ripley. Later travel adventures included the Isle of Skye, Ireland, Prague, Italy, and the Grand Canyon. 

Born and raised in Western New York, she graduated from The Sisters of Charity Hospital of Buffalo, N.Y. School of Nursing in 1956 and attended her class reunions for 50 years. Married in 1961, she and William raised their family in New York, New Jersey and Toronto. Elaine retired to Fonthill, Ontario in 1995. She loved "Jeopardy" and her dogs Mickey and Bailey. She will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:30am at St.Julia Roman Catholic Church in St. Catharines. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine's memory may be made to CNIB Foundation; Covenant House; or Lincoln County Humane Society.
