Obituary of Stanley Walter Pierog
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanley (“Stan”) on Saturday, November 26, 2022 in his 91st year. Husband to Stella (nee Wesolowski) for 69 years. Father to Nancy (Ted Przybyl), and Chris (Beata). Dziadziu to Kasia (Dan Dupuis), Natalie (Lee Burdenuk), Alicia, and Izabela. Pradziadziu to Sam, Frankie, Henry, and Baby Burdenuk. Stan was predeceased by his parents and brother.
Together, Stan and Stella opened Meatland in 1961 and continued business for many years until their retirement in 1997. While he never really ‘stopped working’, in his retirement he enjoyed fishing, polka dancing, and never missed a good party.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. Vigil Prayers will take place at 3pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 5 Oblate St., St. Catharines with burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
