Obituary of Albert Schuit
In his 71st year, beloved husband of Wendy for 48 years, loved and adored father to Malinda (Herbie) and Augustus. Adoring and loved grandfather of Carson, Jack, and Nicole and four legged grand-dog, Faith. Albert is also survived by his sister Ria (Les), brother Bernie (JoAnne) and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Teunis (Ted) and Renee, brothers Allan and Robert (Dan).
The middle child of five, he took pride in being born to immigrant parents, who instilled the virtues of family, compassion, courage, loyalty, honesty and respect, which he carried through his adult life. He had a 30 year career with Corrections, developed a corrections course for Niagara College Law and Security as well as teaching the course for 3 years. For many years, he served as NDC representative for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, culminating in the OSO Summer Games in Niagara.
During his retirement he ecstatically welcomed his first grandchild, Carson. Jack and Nicole soon followed and the trio quickly became an abundant source of joy. He also had a fondness for his grand-dog, Faith. Always a people person, in post retirement Albert enjoyed a variety of part-time employment, including security at Ridley College. The family’s forever grateful for all the support from Hospice Niagara and the entire medial community of Greater Niagara. In keeping with his wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines.
