Obituary of Cheryl Anne Belanger

Cheryl Anne Belanger (nee Cowley)

December 2, 1952 – September 21, 2022

It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a devoted mother, sister, and grandmother on Wednesday September 21, 2022 at St. Catharines Hospital, surrounded by family in her final days.

Loving mother to Christian Belanger (Danielle Carter) of Ottawa, Shane, and Leah Belanger (Matt Crawford) of St. Catharines. Proud grandmother to Audrey Belanger. Daughter of the late Marietta Cowley (nee Leahy) and the late Ronald Cowley. Cherished sister to Sue Rehel (nee Cowley) of LaSalle. Lovingly remembered by nieces Kelly Parker, Amanda Riddell and their families. Many cousins whom Cheryl cherished throughout all her life, especially Sheilah Guignard and Debbie Leahy, whom consistently supported her throughout life struggles. She will be dearly missed by her feline companion, Benny.

Cheryl graduated as an RNA from Toronto, Ontario and served many years working as Float in IODE Campus (Windsor Western Hospital) and Pediatrics in Edmonton, Alberta.

Cheryl held great pride for all her devoted children and their accomplishments, her life’s most cherished joy. We know that Cheryl's gifts of resilience and gratitude will live on through them, and her courage, love, strength and wisdom will continue to inspire all of us on our journey.

Special thanks to cousins Bob and Gaetana Murphy for always extending their hearts and home, and especially for the support given this week.

Arrangements entrusted to George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place with close family and friends on Friday, November 11th, 2022 in Windsor, Ontario, where she will be laid to rest and reunited with her mother at Windsor Memorial Gardens. If desired, memorial donations to Hiatus House (Windsor) or Lincoln County Humane Society would be appreciated by Cheryl’s family.
