Obituary of Anna Carbonara
Peacefully, with family by her side, Anna passed away on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022 at Tabor Manor. Anna, beloved wife of Antonio will be forever cherished by her children Felice “Phil” and his wife Maria, Sylvana and her husband Stan, Orazio “Razz” and his wife Angela, and her daughter-in-law Claudia, predeceased by her son Lucio “Lou” in 2012. As a devoted Nonna, she will live in the hearts of her grandchildren Nicholas, Natalie, Taylor, Allegra, Lucas, Brianna, Katrina, Cross, Ciara, Kristin, Christopher, and great granddaughter Madisyn. Lovingly remembered by her brother Ernesto Della Vecchia and his wife Rita, her sister Maria Natale and her sisters-in-law Elizabeth Della Vecchia and Franca Della Vecchia, and her brother-in-law Emilio Spagnoletti. Predeceased by her brothers Ralph in 2006, Stefano in 2009 and her sister Filomena in 2013.
Anna was born on September 25th, 1935 in Nusco, Italy to her late parents Antonio and Saveria Della Vecchia. It was in this town where she met the love of her life, Antonio. They married November 6th, 1958, beginning their life journey together, which took them to Switzerland and finally to Canada in 1966. Through her great strength and hard work, alongside her husband, she built a comfortable life for her children. Family was her greatest priority and she fiercely protected those whom she loved. Not only did her compassion, nurturing and love flow outward from her heart to her children, but as well, to her grandchildren. She would spend countless hours caring for them and playing with them. Her selflessness will always be remembered.
Family and friends will have happy memories of times spent together filled with joy and laughter, not to mention the delicious homemade meals. Anna will be fondly remembered and missed by all those whose lives she touched.
The family will receive friends at the George Darte Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines on Friday, September 9 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Final Tribute for Anna will be held in the Ceremony Room of the funeral home Saturday September 10 at 9 am. Entombment Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. Flowers respectfully declined, donations made in Anna's memory to the Sick Kids Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
