Obituary of Rosanna Erminia Ferraro

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Rosanna (Rose) Erminia Ferraro (née Rizzuto) on Monday, July 25, 2022 at the age of 101 at the St. Catharines Niagara Health Hospital. Born in Cellara, Calabria, Italy. Predeceased by her loving husband Vincenzo, her parents Angelo and Maria (Cimbalo), brother Carmen (Emilia), nephew Phil and niece Denise. Beloved mother to Rosemary (Rupinder) and Liliana. Cherished grandmother of Christopher (Melissa), David, and Vincent. Survived by her dear sister-in-law Franca. Aunt to many nieces and nephews; cousin to many in Canada and the US.

It was Rosanna’s express desire to live independently. We would like to thank the “village” that made that possible: Dr. W. Alazragh; her close neighbours (Tania, Rick, Henry, Roman); Sandra’s Home HC staff (Melissa and colleagues, Kira, Lori, Noely, Zarina and others); Darla (Regional Care Coordinator and associate caregivers); and the March of Dimes. A special thanks to her niece Natalie. We are grateful to the amazing nurses and medical staff on 3B who looked after Mom so well.

Visitation at the George Darte Funeral Home, 585 Carlton St. on Thursday between 2-4 and 6-8pm with Vigil prayers at 3:30pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Alfred’s Church, 272 Vine St. on Friday at 9:30am. Burial will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Sick Kids Hospital, Oncology Dept.
