Obituary of Lidia Gouveia De Jesus Anselmo

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Lidia Anselmo, on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at the age of 79 at the St. Catharines General Hospital.

Loving mother to Paula Anselmo and Catharine Gerhard; loving Vovo to Jordan, Tianna, Amanda and Hudson; and loving bisavó to Joél and Isaiah.

Lidia was a generous, kind and strong soul with a gentle spirit. Known for her thoughtfulness, smile and sweet manner, she had the special gift of authenticity in her connection with others. She’d always listen without judgement. Lidia had a passion for her family and would go above and beyond to share her love, especially for her grandchildren and great grandchildren who always brought a sparkle to her eye and smile to her face.

Our dearest Lidia is missed by family and friends who immigrated from Portugal to Canada and bravely built a life here together. For many years, Lidia was a dietary aide at Chateau Gardens Nursing Home in Niagara-on-the-Lake. She raised her family in St. Catharines and continued to peacefully live out her life here. She was an Angel to us. 

The family will receive guests on Sunday, July 17 at 11am at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, ON for visitation. A funeral service will be held the same day at the funeral home at 12pm with a reception to follow at 1pm.  A private interment will be held at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.  For those wishing to attend virtually, please click on the livestream below.
