Obituary of Stefan Mierzwa
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Stefan Mierzwa on Saturday, July 2 2022. Stefan leaves behind his cherished spouse of 66 years, Eugenia; son John, daughter-in-law, Anne; grandchildren Andrew (Jackie), Peter (Laura) and Michael; great-grandchildren Brandon, Jessica, Jakub and Kaia. Stefan was predeceased by his son Lou. Born in Poland in 1932, Stefan had immigrated to a prosperous life in Canada and raised his family in the beautiful Niagara area. Stefan’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, fishing, camping and hunting. He was a machine operator by trade and the best handyman you could have around, with many projects always on the go. Stefan was a proud member of many clubs such as, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #418, Canadian Polish Society and the Royal Canadian Legion Band. As per Stefan's wishes, funeral arrangements have been entrusted with GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St. St. Catharines. The family invite guests for visitation on the evening of Tuesday, July 5th from 4PM-7PM with prayers beginning at 5PM. A funeral mass to take place Wednesday, July 6th at 11:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery following the mass with a time of refreshments and fellowship will take place at George's Greek, 535 Queenston St. If you wish to make a donation in memory of Stefan, please direct cheques to Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
