Obituary of Corradino Giancaterino
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Corrado Giancaterino in his 85th year on June 30, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Corrado is the cherished husband of Iola for 61 years and loving father of Sergio (Pasqua) and Renzo (Kelly). Corrado is privileged to be the devoted Nunnu of Sabrina (Mark), Jennifer (Antonio), Melissa (George), Olivia (Marc), and Michael; and dear Bisnunnu to Leo, Ava, Gianluca, Melina, Matteo, and Christopher. Corrado is pre-deceased by his parents Teodorro “Paolo” and Orsola, his in-laws Guiseppe and Concetta Iezzi; his brothers Fiorindo (Gilda), Gabriele, Guiseppe, and Riziero; his sisters Cesira (Emilio) D’Intino, Amerizia (Vito) Squartecchia, Antonietta (Ottavio) D’Intino, and Maria; and his brothers-in-law Emidio (Edda) Iezzi and Corrado Iezzi. Corrado is survived by his sister-in-laws Pia, Maria (Gabriele) Mattucci, Sylvana (Corrado) Di Battuto, and Vilma Iezzi, along with many nieces and nephews.
Corrado was born in Farindola, Italy on December 16, 1937. He served in the army and police force before coming to Canada in 1961. He was joined shortly after by his wife Iola and together they built their loving family. Corrado retired from Transit Ready-Mix in 1993 and enjoyed a long retirement where he fully appreciated being a grandfather and great grandfather. Nothing brought him more joy. Corrado enjoyed traveling back to Italy often and cruising, gardening, and wine making. No one ever visited Corrado without joining him in a glass of his wine. He will always be remembered for his liver sausage, grappa and playing the organetto. Corrado always dressed to impress and was an avid Juventus soccer fan. Corrado was a long time member of Club Roma and St. Alfred’s Church since 1961.
His family would like to thank the PSWs and nurses from Para-Med, Care Partners, and St. Elizabeth, as well as Dr. Ott and Dr. Ogala for their kindness and loving care.
