Obituary of Reverend George Halycia

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce that the light of our lives has gone out and Reverend George Halycia passed away peacefully at home.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Irene and children that he loved more than life itself Gabriel (Katie) and Neonila (Mark), as well as his sister Olga (Victor), his niece and nephews, family in Ukraine and many friends in England, Canada and the USA.

George was predeceased by his father, the Very Reverend Michael and mother, Zina.

He was active in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in three countries during his lifetime where he touched the lives of many people.

His absence will be felt by all who knew him but his memory will be eternal.

The family will receive friends at St. George Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 8 Augusta Avenue, St. Catharines on Wednesday, June 22nd  from 6:30 until 9pm. Panachyda at 7pm. Funeral Liturgy on Thursday, June 24th at 9:30am. Interment St. John Cemetery.

Flowers gratefully declined, donations made to either the Ukrainian Military Aid or the Ukrainian Humanitarian Aid in the Reverend's memory would be appreciated by his family.
