Melanie Goodine

Obituary of Melanie Goodine

It is with broken hearts that the family of Melanie Goodine announce her unexpected and sudden passing on Thursday, June 2nd 2022. Melanie’s loving spirit and infectious smile will be forever missed by her fiance Stephen Spicer and her loving parents Roy and Afra Goodine of Thorold, her sisters Alaina Recine (Michael) of Port Colborne and Kristina Green (Cameron) of Hamilton, New Zealand . The cherished Auntie of Kenley, Emery and Dante. Adored granddaughter to Theresia Van Stralen of Niagara Falls.

Melanie displayed the love, kindness and compassion that radiates the soul of anyone who knew her. A playful, jubilant spirit that inspired others to enjoy happiness at every turn. Melanie held an undying interest in music, film, traveling the globe and experiencing new adventures whenever possible. A fun, friendly, and creative woman who was known to those close to her as a very talented artist and baker who was never shy to use her talents to bring others joy.

Melanie was a gentle and free spirit that marched to her own beat, as such, she started as a welder  for VTR and left her mark on the industry as one of those who can be counted on to get the job done. The pride she took in her profession allowed her to help inspire her colleagues and peers while leaving a lasting impression of positivity and perseverance in their hearts.

Melanie’s life was proceeded in death by her Grandparents, Theo Van Stralen, Jackie and William Davey, and her Aunt Agatha.

Her absence will leave a cherished imprint on her many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Tom Davies and Beverley Cavanagh from VTR and her Uncle Ed for all the help in getting Melanie back home to us. We would also like to thank all the families, friends and neighbours for all their generosity, love and support.

In keeping with Melanie’s wishes she has been cremated and  arrangements have been entrusted with the George Darte Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family will welcome guests on Tuesday, June 14th from 11am-1pm. A Final Tribute for Melanie will be held in the Ceremony Room at 1pm.
